With his dream to become a firefighter, proud Lax Kw’ alaams band member Stephen Fodor is taking his first steps to reaching that dream.

Stephen has just completed a 6 month firefighter course at the College of The Rockies, in Kimberly BC. This program was funded by TRICORP as part of the T.E.S.T.S. program which helps fund employment, skills & training for First Nations in Northwest BC. To learn more about this program and if you can benefit, please visit link.

28 year old Stephen is a volunteer firefighter for the Port Edward Fire Department and lives in Prince Rupert. In 2019, Stephen did an EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) course provided by TRICORP and became a certified paramedic, which was the main reason why he was able to take his next steps towards becoming a firefighter. Part of his EMR course included competitive fitness training which helped prepare him for the screening process required to become a firefighter.
